Louise Whitby
Louise is a certified professional ergonomist and registered nurse. She is the principle of Louise Whitby and Associates, a company established in 1994 to provide professional OHS and ergonomics consulting services.
Louise’s particular area of expertise is in manual handling and occupational overuse injury, developing strategies to reduce manual handling / OOS risks in a range of industries including health, retail, printing, manufacturing, government, transport and agriculture.

Key consulting areas include:
- Ergonomics evaluation of workstations, work systems, processes and tasks, including human-computer interaction.
- Design of work systems and workplace layout - workstation design, selection of furniture.
- Office ergonomics - pre/post occupancy review and liaison with interior designers / fitout companies.
- Co-developed resources and presented trainer workshops in patient handling and health ergonomics.
- Developed and presented training relating to ergonomics and OHS.
- OHS auditing, including compliance audits.
- Developed resource material - videos, competency-based training programs and publications.
- Provide expert witness reports for common law negligence matters.
Louise is an active member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia Inc. Louise is the inaugural chair of the HealthCare Ergonomics Special Interest Group [SIG] of the Society. Louise will co-convene HFESA's national conference in 2011.
